Excelent for a Biker on a Budget October 29, 2008 Tristan Gehman 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently re-took an interest in cycling, so I decided to restore my Raleigh M-20 mountain bike. It didn't take long for me to discover that a host of specialized tools are needed to properly maintenance a bike, and that's where the tool kit came in. I took a risk by buying a cheap tool kit (it cost me $45 with shipping), but it payed off in my opinion. Included in the kit are the main tools needed for a bike repair: a crank remover, chain breaker, cassette and freewheel remover, and "chain whip", as well as five allan wrenches and a spoke tool. The chain whip incorporates several tools into one, with a wrench on one end, and a hook like tool on the other (I don't know the technical terms). The chain breaker is of nice quality, with far better features and craftsmanship than the one I found at Walmart. The tools included are of good quality for home use, but may fall short for professionals. Honestly, I was surprised at the overall quality vs. price ratio. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they are not quite professional quality, but for the price, I didn't expect them to be. I will add photos of the tool kit soon. To me, this tool kit is a great value and I highly recommend this it to anyone considering doing their own repairs at home. I am very satisfied with the use I have gotten out of it so far. Note DIYers: I highly recommend watching Youtube video tutorials before home maintenancing. Trust me, it will save you time and frustration!
A good start July 29, 2008 R. Brooks (Olympia, WA) Most bikes can be disassembled using these tools. You can add tools to complement but this is the start. You get a box full of tools at the price of a couple of individual tools locally if you can find them. Tools from Taiwan or India, somewhat lesser quality but still workable. It would be easier to use if they told you what each tool was for on a sheet of paper. Use Zinn's Bicycle Maintenance books for assistance or go to Park Tools.com for instructions that will help.

Is very handy and all most bicycle riders would need at home in special tools for repair. H.W.B.

Here's the specs for the PYRAMID Pro 15 pc Home mechanic Tool Kit with case - Allen Wrench set (2mm-6mm) - Universal Chain Breaker - Shimano Lockring Remover - Chain Whip w/BB Spanner - Universal Crank puller-Fits Splined/Square Cranks - FW Remover for Falcon/Shimano - Universal BB Tool Fits Shimano or ISIS Splined BB and - Universal Spoke Wrench in case Just the right set of tools I needed after having bought the other tools separately before. Not bad quality at all for the price I paid. however I'd not rate it as high as pedros/park/inline tools.
